Cherub angel’s head

Cherub angel of paradise. The Cherubim are one of the highest ranks in the hierarchy of angels and are named as such by Dante in Canto XXVIII (v. 99) of the Paradiso. Original in the Church of Maria Steinbach in Allgäu (Bavaria) on the architrave of the left hand altar. Sculpted in 1762; master sculptor: Johann Georg Üblherr (1700 - 1763).
