Crucifixes Christ’s Bodies
Woodcarved Crucifixes and Corpus Figures – Powerful Symbols of Christian Faith
The crucifix featuring the body of Christ is one of the most enduring symbols in Catholic tradition. Found in churches, chapels, public spaces, and private homes, it expresses deep faith and reverence. Especially in carved form, crucifixes are often placed in living rooms, bedrooms, or entrance areas as signs of spiritual presence and protection.
At the heart of these sacred artworks is the Corpus, which captures the suffering and redemption of Christ through detailed anatomy and expressive posture. Franco offers a wide range of finely woodcarved crucifixes and corpus figures, crafted with expert skill and spiritual sensitivity.
In most cases, corpus and cross can be freely combined, allowing for a personalized crucifix. Four models are sold as one-piece crucifixes – minimalist and delicate in design, perfect as pendants or meaningful First Communion gifts.
In addition to traditional wall crucifixes, Franco also offers elegant standing Crosses for altars, chapels, or sacred interiors. A true highlight is the faithful reproduction of the famous Great God of Altenstadt. The original stands an impressive 3.2 meters tall (approximately 10 feet 6 inches), making it one of the largest of its kind. Once located in the Basilica of St. Michael in Altenstadt (Upper Bavaria), the original is now preserved in the Bavarian National Museum in Munich. A faithful replica remains on display in the basilica.
