Romanesque Crucifix – Spiritual Depth and Historical Inspiration

This crucifix is based on a depiction from Swabia or Old Bavaria, created around 1120–1130. Christ is shown with his head tilted to the right, and the arms and legs slightly bent. The deeply carved loincloth is knotted at the right hip and falls to reveal the right thigh – a typical motif of Romanesque iconography. The original is housed in the Bavarian National Museum in Munich.

The minimalist design language gives the piece a deep spiritual presence, making it a timeless expression of Christian faith. It fits harmoniously into both sacred and private spaces.

This cross is crafted in the Val Gardena workshops of Franco, where religious art merges with artisanal tradition.
