For more than 850 years, this sacred image has been venerated as the “Great Mother of Austria”. Mary holds the Child Jesus on her lap, while He carries an apple and reaches for the fruit offered by Mary – a symbol of redemption from original sin. This finely detailed Madonna is carved from high-quality maple wood. The turned wooden niche gives the figure a special character while protecting it at the same time.
