Standing crucifix-Altenstadt-Romanesque style

This Romanesque standing cross is an artistic reproduction of the famous crucifix from the early 13th century, known as “The Great God of Altenstadt”. The depiction is based on the monumental original with a 3.20 m tall corpus, whose superhuman scale still evokes awe and devotion today.

The Christ with crown and golden ring instead of a crown of thorns symbolizes his priestly and royal dignity – an expression of deep spirituality and medieval faith culture. The design shows clear influences from Italian art, especially from the region of Arezzo in Tuscany.

The corpus is carved from maple wood, while the cross is made of high-quality ash wood. The harmonious size ratio of cross height to base († 52 cm / _ 4.5 × 20 × 14 cm) makes this piece ideal for altars, chapels, or special living spaces.

Crafted in South Tyrol by Franco, this cross stands for masterful sacred art and a deeply rooted faith tradition.
